South Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk Smashes Record for Fastest One-Day Century

21-Year-Old Batsman Blasts to Landmark in Just 29 Balls

Record-Breaking Performance in Marsh Cup

South Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk has made history by setting the record for the fastest List A century, reaching the milestone in just 29 balls during the 2023-24 Marsh Cup.

Fraser-McGurk, opening the batting in South Australia's run chase, reached his century in the ninth over of the match. He needed only 11 deliveries to go from 50 to 100, showcasing his incredible power-hitting ability.

The 21-year-old batsman's whirlwind knock featured 11 boundaries and six sixes. He was eventually caught on the mid-wicket boundary after reaching 125 from 38 balls.

Fraser-McGurk's century broke the previous record for the fastest List A century, set by New Zealand's Nathan Astle in 2001. Astle reached 100 from 35 balls against Canterbury.

Despite his impressive performance in the Marsh Cup, Fraser-McGurk had struggled as an opener in previous matches for Victoria, netting just 100 runs in four outings.

South Australia ultimately won the match by 64 runs, with Fraser-McGurk playing a pivotal role in the victory. His record-breaking century will undoubtedly go down as one of the most remarkable performances in Australian cricketing history.
