Josh Giddey: The Rising Star of the NBA

From Sixth Pick to NBA Stardom

Josh Giddey's meteoric rise in the NBA has captured the attention of basketball fans worldwide.

After being drafted sixth overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2021 NBA Draft, Giddey quickly established himself as a key player for the rebuilding franchise. As a 6'8" point guard, he brings a unique blend of size and skill to the court, showcasing impressive playmaking abilities and a knack for rebounding. Despite the Thunder's struggles in recent years, Giddey's consistent performance has earned him praise and recognition.

In his rookie season, Giddey averaged 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, becoming the first rookie since Oscar Robertson in 1960-61 to average at least 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. He also recorded the NBA's first triple-double by a teenager since LeBron James in 2003-04 when he put up 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in a game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Giddey's sophomore season saw him continue to improve, averaging 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 48.7% from the field and 35.5% from three-point range. He also played a significant role in helping the Thunder earn the franchise's first playoff berth since 2016.
