Taijuan Walker: A Rising Star in Major League Baseball

Early Life and Career

Taijuan Emmanuel Walker, born on August 13, 1992, is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB).

A Shreveport native, Walker attended Louisiana State University, where he played college baseball for the LSU Tigers.

Professional Career

Walker was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Mariners in 2013.

After spending five seasons with Seattle, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. Walker pitched for Arizona for three seasons before joining the New York Mets in 2021.

Philadelphia Phillies

In March 2023, Walker signed a four-year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 6'4", 235-pound right-hander has a career record of 79-65 with a 3.93 ERA.

Accomplishments

Walker has been named to two All-Star teams (2016, 2021).

He also finished seventh in the 2021 National League Cy Young Award voting.

Personal Life

Walker is married and has a son.

He is actively involved in several charities, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
